Tiling your bathroom

Tiling is most probably the best in a practical and cost-effective way to finish your bathroom. It comes in various colors, shapes, textures and patterns and if used smartly it can really bring out the most of your bathroom.

The size of the space at disposal for your bathroom is a major factor that needs to be taken into account during the tile selection phase. A small bathroom won`t be suited with large bathroom tiles as they can make the room appear even smaller. Instead small or medium tiles are more suitable options for a small bathroom.

Ceramic and porcelain tiles are excellent barriers against water and provide a stylish finish to your ensuite. Between these two, porcelain tiles are more hardwearing, however this also means that they tend to be more expensive. If you are tiling a bathroom wall, we suggest tiles that can withstand a lot of wear and even if it costs more, it’s a small price to pay in the long run.

Natural stone tiles are becoming a more popular choice in the bathroom nowadays. Tiles made of stone or limestone are more porous and absorbent than ceramic or porcelain, they will require sealing regularly thus costing you more in terms of time and cost when it comes to its maintenance.

Always buy 10-15% more tiles than you think is required. Wastage and breakage are inevitable during the tiling process. Having spare tiles on hand is better than having to order more when you are halfway on your project. Your supplier might not have the tiles you selected in stock anymore and in this scenario, prevention is better than cure.
